Retired 13 years ago as a Computer Specialist with the Dept. of Defense. Lived in San Francisco, San Diego, Heidelberg Germany, London England, and Tokyo Japan. We will celebrated our 44th wedding anniversary in May 2014. Currently a docent at the University of Texas, Institute of Texan Cultures here in San Antonio. Marci and I love to travel. Marci's health issues prohibit us from pursuing the travel we had planned Traveling back and forth to Dallas to see our children and grandchildren is the extent of our adventures now in our Golden Years.

School Story:

One day in Study Hall someone let out a loud moan. Mrs Rains immediately came to my table, took a hold of my ear and said "Frank, you are going to the Principal's office". Well, about that time, she realized that a girl sitting at my table was in the middle of a epileptic seizure. After administering to the girl, I offered to take her home. From then on, Mrs Rains and I became the best of friends. The girl never came back to school... I remember how sad I was upon hearing the news of Mrs Rains untimely death. I also have fond memories of being in the play "Lil' Abner". The words to those songs still linger in my brain. Mrs. Robertson was a great teacher and was director of the play. Mr Pylon (sp?) was the stage director. I am sure you all remember his funny story.... (It had to do with a gun and his testicles) :)

Your Favorite Teacher(s):

I would have to say that my favorite teacher was Ms. Robertson. She was a warm, caring, sharing person, who took a personal interest in each of her students. Mr. Foster, the woodworking teacher was another wonderful teacher. Mrs Bowden, Mrs Rains, and Mrs Joy were terrific in Studyhall. I was friends with Mrs Bowden as an adult. I also mourned the loss of Mrs Rains. Mr. Brambel's wife was the Home Economics teacher at Lowell Jr. High where I attended. I had such a crush on her.... When I got to Highlands and met Mr. Brambel, I thought I had better rethink my crush. He was short, but had a Mr. Atlas body build. They are now divorced and I run into her into her in my local grocery store. She is still a looker!

45th Reunion Attendee Comments

My wife and I attended the mixer a luncheon organized by Janice (Hale) Martin for Aldersgate Methodist Church youth group alumni. We had a great time at both functions. We are sorry we missed the actual reunion party. We are looking forward to the 50th! It was great seeing what other classmates have done with their lives. There was one main thing to be learned from the reunion. Don't judge anyone by the person we knew in 1964. Some of us finally grew up and made a wonderful successful life for ourselves and our families. Most of us guys have our wives to thank for the transformation. I know I do! Thanks to Janice Hale Martin, many of the 64 classmates keep in touch often. Many of the HHS ladies have organized a luncheon group that meets monthly. My wife has been included to represent me. She has been made an honorary HHS member. She graduated from HHS, but it was Harlingen High School... Because of these HHS lunch groups, we have all become a close group of friends and a support group for each other. I never dreamed in 1964 that some day I would be in a support group with former classmates, some of which I barely knew at Highlands. God is great!

Another year passes and we are all getting older. You are definitely growing old gracefully.I have shared a lot of memories with you and Bob between High School and DeMolay activities. When we get to this age and face all of the issues that God presents to us in our lives, it is our memories that give us the most pleasure. Happy Birthday dear friend and best wishes to you and Bob. Hoping to see you both at the reunion in October 2019!

I am so sorry about the passing of your wife. I too lost my husband of 51 yrs last August 3rd. I do understand the heartache you are feeling. It will take time to feel better but reach out to your friends and family. Find joy in those memories.

April 14th, 2016, Marci Patten Nicol Woolf, the love of my life for 46 years passed into our Heavenly Father's arms. It will be the darkest day of my life. I was never prepared for this day. She was sick for a long time and in a lot of pain. Even though she is in a better place, there is a large hole in my heart. I do not know if I will ever recover.

It was good to see you at the reunion. Sorry we did not have the opportunity to sit down and visit. We have a lot of memories. Remember the Scavenger Hunt I did for one of the local Radio Stations? Your dad gave me the Christmas Tree you had in your back yard from the previous Christmas. Sorry I lost track of your family during my adult years. I was busy in Vietnam and raising a family. Reggie was friends with Marci's (my wife) little sister Donna Nicol. The reunion was a great success and we really enjoyed every minute of it. My wife graduated from Harlingen High School, but has been part of our HHS luncheon group that was organized at our 45th Class Reunion. We have kept up with those girls and their husbands for the last five years and are just one big family. Take care of yourself and your family. Frank

Joan, I am looking forward to seeing you at the reunion. I am also so sorry to hear about your sister's passing. All of my siblings have passed with the exception of my twin sister Mary. We have all changed since thos days. Cristin Wells is not an exception! At the reunion we will have to search the name tags to see who we were in our former lives... :)
