Comments:

I married after graduating from Texas Tech in '67. Moved to California. Taught school for 37 years. Retired in 2004, and my husband and I became "Sun Birds." We flee the wicked summer heat in El Centro, CA, and spend three months in the Pacific Northwest: visiting Montana, Idaho, and Washington. The past 45 years have lent me a wealth of travelling experiences and good times.

As well as a good life in CA, I still have my dad living in SA in the same house that we lived in while I attended Highlands. My dad is a WWII Vet, and was 36 years with Southwestern Bell/AT&T.

My son is a plumber in El Centro, and my daughter is a Registered Dietitician at Sharp Hospital in San Diego, CA. My son has a 15 year old daughter and my daughter has a son, Thomas, who is a 6 years old and a new baby girl, Cameron Elisabeth, 14 days old. My daughter is married to a wonderful guy, Mike Twining, who is an engineer.

There is so much to share. Consider this a work in progress. Love this website and hope to visit again soon. As you can see, my visits are few and far between. Aye?

Here we are 75 years old. My second husband Fred and I have pretty much settled to life evolving around the home. Yet, we did spend summer 2021 in Kellogg, Idaho and surrounding areas. I f you ever visit Kellogg, they have a wonderful Silver Mountain resort with Swim Park for the kids, gondola rides, fishing, camping, biking, and of course great food.

For 8 years, after the death of my mother, I travelled to SA every month to
help my Dad and make sure he was ok. On the day of our last reunion, he passed. 98 years old. Just killed me, but the graciousness of classmates at the reunion helped me cope.

I hope to see you all at a 60th reunion.

School Story:

Some of my fondest memories are brigade, the routines that I could manage to forget my exit line, and travelling to football games.

I remember my favorite skit pictured in the annual where I wore the blonde wig and heaven knows what I was saying.

Your Favorite Teacher(s):

Mrs. Lundeen by far stands out in my mind. I have never forgotten the lessons on DNA, and now all of the forensic evidence is based on DNA. I can even remember what the acronym stands for, but not sure I can spell it without the old dictionary.

The other teacher that really stands out in my mind is Mr. Bramble. He is probably still around. I'll never forget the day of Nov. 23rd, 1963,fall of our senior year, when Kennedy was shot and Mr. Bramble wheeled the TV into typing class so that we could watch the events transpire. The thoughts of that day bring tears to my eyes. My mom had gone to the airport the day before to see JFK.

There were many others, Mrs. Winnick, my homeroom teacher, and of course, Mrs. Lord. Lordy, Lordy, she was the Lord of the girl's gym.

45th Reunion Attendee Comments

Had a ball with the cronies: Cheryl, Sandy, Liz and Johnny Eubanks. Of course, Berta, Nancy, and many others. Saw David Wright for the first time in 45 years.

It has been great fun seeing many of our friends at the HHS luncheons, once a month.

I hope you had a very Happy Birthday. Have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I just returned from our Family Christmas in SA. Grandma Baylor started the celebration the weekend before Christmas, so families could go to the in-laws on Christmas. It’s a great tradition. My cousins and I have continued to help the famiy flourish. Hope to see you one day soon. Funny, I am now the matriarch of our family. Love to you and yours. Diana
