David ~~ I do remember you...a mild mannered gentle sort...quiet. You and your brother were excellent tennis players. Remember..?--Mr. Mangold / Mangol (sp?) was the tennis coach. He 'coached' only the good players and ignored the rest of us.... I was on the very bottom rung...Actually, I was still on the ground. haha. Remember when Mr. M. took a bunch of us to play/practice in the San Pedro courts? That didn't happen often. I hope you went on to have a good time in the game and that you had a great life after HHS. You deserved it. I am so sure that you grew to maturity to be enterprising and prosperous. I can only see you that way as you were intelegent and strived forward in your goals.
David, I am quite sure that God blessed you and those in your realm.
I searched but could not an obit. So here are things I had learned over the years from one of his siblings with whom I kept in touch:
David graduated from U.T. Austin in about three years. He did a short stint in Vista and then went on to work for the U.S. State Dept. He got stationed in Beirut where he met his future wife, a lady from one of the Scandinavian countries. They married and had two children. Once back in the U.S., he went back to college and obtained a law degree from U.T. Austin. He joined the U.S. Dept of Justice and retired from there. After retirement, he and his wife sold their home ( in one of the Washington D.C. suburbs) and bought a condominium in the Watergate. David died in 2018 in Washington D.C. from complications of diabetes.
These are the bare facts. I'm sorry that I do not have any first-hand knowledge of his life after Highlands. We grew up living just a few blocks apart but I never knew him and his family until we were at Poe Jr High. What I can say about David is that he was very driven to succeed and I believe he did both in his professional career and in his family life.
